Composite geomembranes are widely used in channel anti-seepage engineering. The extensive application and effectiveness of geosynthetic materials in

civil engineering, especially in flood control and emergency engineering, have attracted high attention from engineering and technical personnel. For the

application technology of geosynthetics, the country has put forward standardized technical requirements from aspects such as anti-seepage, filtration,

drainage, reinforcement, and protection, greatly accelerating the promotion and application of new materials. This material has been widely used in the

anti-seepage engineering of irrigation channels. Based on construction practice, this article briefly discusses the application technology of composite

geomembranes.

Construction matters

(1) The use must be embedded: the covering thickness should not be less than 30cm.

(2) The renovation of the anti-seepage system should consist of a cushion layer, anti-seepage layer, transition layer, and protective layer.

(3) The soil should be solid to avoid uneven settlement, cracks, and the grass and tree roots within the anti-seepage range should be removed. Lay a

protective layer of sand or clay with small particle size on the contact surface with the membrane.

(4) When laying, do not pull the geomembrane too tightly. It is better to embed the soil at both ends in a corrugated shape, especially when anchoring

with rigid materials, leaving a certain amount of expansion and contraction.

(5) During construction, stones and heavy objects should be avoided from directly hitting the geomembrane. It is best to carry out construction, lay the

membrane, and cover the protective layer at the same time.
