Artificial lakes (reservoirs) are hydraulic engineering structures used for flood control, water storage, and water flow regulation.

In some places, artificial lakes exist in the form of landscape lakes. Generally, it is a type of lake that people have planned and pur-

posefully excavated, which is not produced in a natural environment, and is commonly referred to as a reservoir in people's daily

lives. Reservoirs can also be used for irrigation, power generation, and fish farming. Super large reservoirs may also have a certain

impact on the local ecological development.


 

Why is artificial lake anti-seepage membrane suitable for reservoir construction(图1)


The water loss of artificial lakes is caused by evaporation and leakage. The former cannot be avoided, while the latter requires the

development of corresponding technical measures, usually through the use of artificial lake impermeable membranes. The artificial

lake anti-seepage membrane, also known as composite geomembrane, is usually made of two fabrics and one membrane, with geo-

textile on both sides and HDPE geomembrane in the middle. The artificial lake anti-seepage membrane produced by Jialutong is made

by rolling and hot-melt composite of geotextile and HDPE geotextile. It not only maintains the good mechanical properties of geot-

extile, but also makes the thickness of the composite product film uniform, greatly improving the anti-seepage strength of the membrane.

Jialutong artificial lake anti-seepage membrane is sometimes used for emergency reinforcement projects of artificial lakes or reservoirs

due to its coverage with geotextile.


 


Small details of laying artificial lake anti-seepage membrane: During construction, first use smaller diameter sand or clay to level

the base surface, and then lay the geomembrane. The anti-seepage membrane of the artificial lake should not be stretched too

tightly. The two ends should be buried in the soil in a corrugated shape, and then a transition layer of about 10cm should be laid

on the laid geomembrane with fine sand or clay. Build 20-30cm stone blocks (or precast concrete blocks) as a protective layer against

erosion. During construction, efforts should be made to avoid stones directly hitting the geomembrane, and protective layer con-

struction should be carried out while laying the membrane. The connection between the anti-seepage membrane of the artificial

lake and the surrounding structures should be anchored with expansion bolts and steel plate pressure strips. The connection part

should be coated with emulsified asphalt (2mm thick) for bonding to prevent leakage at that location.


 


Precautions for laying artificial lake anti-seepage membrane: The service life of the artificial lake anti-seepage membrane is sufficient

to meet the anti-seepage requirements of the reservoir, generally exceeding 50 years. Construction personnel must wear non spiked shoes

or rubber soled shoes, and it is prohibited to step on the artificial lake anti-seepage membrane at will. After laying the film, the protective

layer construction should be carried out in a timely manner to prevent deformation of the artificial lake anti-seepage film caused by the-

rmal shrinkage and product aging caused by ultraviolet radiation. Do not come into contact with chemicals that can cause changes in the

properties of polyethylene, in order to prevent deformation of the artificial lake anti-seepage membrane. Machinery should not directly

crush the surface of the artificial lake anti-seepage membrane. After meeting these precautions, the service life of the artificial lake anti-

seepage membrane will gradually increase.
